About Us

The idea for Unity came about one evening in April 2024 while Avery was studying at Kava Kula for his Spring finals. He couldn't believe that he'd already gone through two whole semesters and hadn't yet joined his school's GSA (Gender Sexuality Alliance.) He wished there was a more accessible club that everyone could join, so he thought to make his own LGBTQ+ club outside of the campus.

As a queer person in Florida, it can be difficult finding and making new friends, especially in a place you feel safe and welcome. Unity exists to be that place for queer adults and allies of all backgrounds. A place where you can truly be yourself without fear of judgment. All meetings are held at Kava Kula in Ormond Beach, a sober, friendly and inclusive kava lounge.
